| BOPEE scam: Court grants pardon to broker, changes his custody | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 15 : The Special Judge Anticorruption Kashmir after granting pardon to Farooq Ahmad Itoo, one the chief brokers in cash for paper scam of Common Entrance Test 2012, Saturday changed his custody from central jail here to sub jail Humhama. The Judge, M. L. Manhas granted pardon to Itoo in exercise of powers conferred upon him u/s 337/338 Cr.P.C on the condition of his making true and full disclosure of all the facts and circumstances within his knowledge relating to the commission of offence. In his statement before the court, Itoo stated that he being close friend of the former chairman of BOPEE Mushtaq Ahmad Pir hatched a criminal conspiracy with him in the year 2012, whereby Pir agreed to sell question papers alongwith answer keys for Rs.60 lacs for MBBS CET for the year 2012 (to be held on 23/24 June, 2012). Out of which, he paid Rs.30 lacs in advance and managed selection of nine candidates namely, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Khursheed Ahmad Dar, Naveed Hussain, Yasir Yousuf Dar , Yaser Yousuf Hajam, Khursheed Ahmad Dar, Waheedul Rehman, Bazila Bilal, Amira Shakeel. After the selection, Itoo said, he further paid Rs. 30 lacs to accused Pir as promised earlier, and in furtherance of the criminal conspiracy with accused Sajad Ahmad Bhat, his close friend and associate for the sale of said question papers, a deal was struck for Rs. 70 lacs, but Sajad Ahmad Bhat only paid Rs. 8 lacs to him, who further sold the question papers with answer keys to many other candidates, and as many as 40 candidates have managed selection in MBBS course for the year 2012 fraudulently. The Crime Branch has named 12 students and nine parents in the charge sheet. While all parents have been arrested, six other students, three of them minors, are yet to be arrested in the case. The ex-BOPEE chief and other accused have been chargeshteed in case FIR 24/2013 Under Section 420, 120B RPC, 5(2)d r/w (5(2) PC Act of Police Station Crime Branch. After legal formalities dead body handed over to his legal hires for last rites. Again one person namely Sadar Din S/O Sula Bhatt R/O Changa Bala Gandoh who was trapped in the snow has been rescued alive by a joint party of local Police and Army of 26 RR . |
