| Jourian town to witness fast-track development: Sham | | Sham, Madan honored by people at Jourian for attaining tehsil status | | Early Times Report Jourian (Akhnoor), Feb 15: On getting tehsil status in the recent announced administrative units by the State Government, people of Jourian honored Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma and Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma at a mega public rally organized by the Congress Committee, Jourian and prominent citizens at Jourian town, here today. On their reaching to Jourian town, large number of men, women and youth gave rousing reception to the leaders amidst drum beating, traditional dance. People greeted the leaders with flowers and chanted slogans in favor of State and Central Governments, expressing their happiness and gratitude for granting them the gift of tehsil. OBC Vice Chairman, Master Kuldeep Raj Verma, various office workers of Block Congress Committee, Akhnoor and Jourian and a huge gathering of people drawn from different parts of Jourian, Khour and Akhnoor were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the people of Jourian have got their overdue share and Government has not done any special favor for them. He said Jourian is one of the oldest town of Jammu district having vast catchment area and deserved the status of Block and tehsil long back, but ultimately they got it and its credit goes to the local leadership as well as Central and State Governments. He said the hospital work will be further speeded for its completion in a time bound manner. The entire funds for the project stand already released and agency will be directed to speed up the pace. The PHE scheme for the upgradation of existing set up has been conceived at an estimated cost of Rs. 8 core. All outlived infrastructure will be replaced with new one and capacity of reservoirs will be enhanced. This has been done keeping in view the futuristic requirements of town and new localities come up gradually in the outskirts, said the Minister. |
