Jammu, Feb 19: Although Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has bagged National Tourism Award for the second consecutive time but the present dispensation has shown dismal performance as compared to previous PDP led coalition government which fared well in executing centrally funded tourism related projects. As per Economic Survey 2013-14, during 2007-08 to 2013-2014 total 121 projects were sanctioned under Central Financial Assistance (CFA) during present regime till date but only 46 projects could be completed while 75 are still incomplete. While during 2002-03 to 2006-2007 which was the tenure of People Democratic Party (PDP) led coalition government, it got 31 projects under CFA in which it succeeded in completing 29 projects and 2 projects could not be completed. It further revealed that in 10th Financial Year Plan, center government sanctioned total 31 projects under various Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) and Minister Reconstruction Projects (PMRP) at the total cost of Rs 121 crores. In 2002-03, Jammu and Kashmir received 2 projects while 2003-04 got 2 projects, 2004-05 got 1, 2005-06 got 8 while in 2006-07 did not get any project. It got achievement in completion of 29 projects. While during NC led government total 121 projects in both (CSS, PMRP) at the project cost of Rs 507.78 crores has been sanctioned by center government in which it got 24 projects during 2007-08 including 8 from (CSS) and 16 (PMRP), in 2008-09 it received 10 projects, 2009-10, 18, 2010-11 received 15 projects, 2012-13 got 24 and 2013-14 received 4 projects but only 45 projects were completed while 75 are still incomplete. Despite all these facts and figures furnished in Economic Survey, the recent 'National Award in Tourism' was given on the ground of completion of CFA Schemes within the stipulated time. |
