| J&K Cements Employees Association defies CAG inspection note | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 19: Jammu and Kashmir Cements (JKCEA) Ltd defied the Comptroller and Auditor General's Audit inspection note, in which the CAG indicated a loss of the Rs 25 cr. According to press release, the CAG of India in one of its audit inspection note have indicated a loss of Rs 25 crores in JKCL for payment of ideal wages to 100 employees who shifted to Jammu in 1990. "The Audit para was objected by CAG to avoided payment of ideal wages to the employees. The matter was referred to Board of Directors of JKCL who strongly instructed the management of JKCL to post these employees back to their original place of posting a weak effort was made by the Management which could not comply with the instructions of CAG of India and Board of Directors", said, General Secretary JKCEA. He said that it was irony to note that instead of shifting them to their original place of posting, these employees were allowed promotions and other benefits without putting them to any job. "This was done by a departmental promotion Committee on the instructions of the Managing Director JKCL who did not bother to refer to the instructions of CAG and Board", he said. He further said, "There is a strong resentment on this among the employees who work for the benefit of the Corporation and give blood to earn their livelihood. Besides this the Departmental Committee has also on the instructions of the Govt allowed promotions of around 200 employees putting additional burden on the exchequer which is already cash starved at present." "Instead of this decision the management should have thought of putting the production on the required scale. The above decision is strongly being protested by the employees association and request for withdraw of such orders", he said, adding that as and when the company achieves the target then above decisions would be welcomed. |
