Jammu, Feb 19: A large number of supporters and activists of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) gathered to commemorate "Dogra Day" Rally to remember the sacrifices of the great heroes of Jammu and sons of soil on the foundation day of party here today at Parade Ground Jammu.
During the occasion a campaign to unite likeminded people to come on one platform in the name of "Write for Jammu, Fight for Jammu" was also launched in which large number of Jammuites put their signatures in support to make Jammu a better place in the field of education, employment, development and free from corruption etc.
Former Union Minster and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta who was the Chief Guest on the occasion while
JKDF State President Anil Gupta along with the senior leaders of party and special invitees shared the dais with chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest former union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said, "I congratulate the party on its second anniversary and hope the party will work for the collective good and betterment of Society in letter and spirit." He added that he is happy JKDF is following the steps of these great personalities and resolved to follow their ideology.
In his address, JKDF State President Anil Gupta Said, "It is a proud moment for the JKDF and people of Jammu that we have assembled here to celebrate February 19th as this was the day when JKDF came into existence with an objective to create new Jammu.
"Since the inception of our party two years ago, JKDF raised the issues related to this State especially Jammu region, especially when existing political groups have surrendered for the sake of power politics and personal interests, he said. Without naming any particular individual and party, he said, "These forces in connivance with ruling parties have always betrayed the people of Jammu."
"We have to stop bearing the step motherly treatment given out to us and have to break out silence and thus to realize this dream of prosperous Jammu region, as a political party we (JKDF) are determined to take up this cause and help Jammu to regain its pride, its tradition," he added
On the occasion all the office bearers and workers of JKDF State Wing, Executive Body, Youth Wing, Ladies Wing and Student body were present. Earlier activists and artists from local cultural troupes staged cultural programme highlighting Dogra folk culture. |
