Akshay Azad JAMMU, Feb 20: The Omar Abdullah led coalition Government might have been patting its back over various issues but the achievements on account of creating infrastructure in various Primary and Upper Primary Schools, paints a very gloomy picture. On account of providing toilet facilities in Government Primary and Upper Primary Schools under Sarav Shiksha Abhiyaan, state had been able to complete only 2.87 percent works, it had targeted for last financial years, while on account of constructing additional classrooms, state has shown 22 percent completion percentage. Documents in possession of Early Times revealed that under Sarav Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA), State Government had fixed the target of constructing 8170 toilets in various Primary and Upper Primary schools, but same had been able to construct only 235 toilets, while remaining 97 percent toilets failed to construct. The documents further divulged that for the financial year 2011-12, State Government had set the target of construction of 7939 toilets in various schools across state but same had failed to construct even a single toilet for the year and shown zero percent performance. Moreover, for the year 2010-11, state had fixed the target of constructing 2036 toilets. During that year state had shown some good performance and had been able to construct 1728 toilets in various schools. The documents further divulged that on account of construction of additional classrooms in various Primary and Upper Primary Government schools, the state had also shown dismal performance and had failed to achieve set targets. For the year 2010-11, state had set the target of construction of 3054 additional classrooms but had able to construct only 614 classrooms, recorded 20 percent of target completion. Moreover, for the year 2011-12, state had set a target of constructing 2112 additional classrooms but had been able to construct 772 classrooms, witnessing a completion percentage of 36, while for the year 2012-13, state had set a target of 7775 additional classrooms construction but had been able to construct only 1748, showing completion percentage of 22. |
