| Valley hospitals have 68 ventilators, Jammu 16 | | | Avinash Azad JAMMU, Feb 20: Discrimination against Jammu has once again come to fore. GMC, Srinagar and its associated hospitals have 46 ventilators against availability of 19 ventilators for GMC Jammu and its associated hospitals. The facts were revealed in State Government's reply in a question asked by MLC, Mohammad Muzaffar Parry. The member of upper house sought number of ventilators in various hospitals in J&K including SKIMS. "Government Medical College, Jammu and its Associated Hospital 19, while the GMC, Srinagar and its associated hospitals have 46 ventilators", the reply reads, adding that other district/ sub district hospitals and other health institutions of Jammu divisions were provided 34 ventilators. The reply further read that the SKIMS Soura, Sringar has 22 ventilators. It further read, "District Hospitals and other Health institutions of Kashmir Division have 16 ventilators." However, the State Government was silent on the number of ventilators in working condition every now and then as the complaints regarding their non functionality crops up. "Does it intend to arrange atleast two ventilators in each district hospital in J&K so that the people may get some kind of respite?", the member sought information. In the reply the Government said that presently no such proposal was under consideration of the department. |
