| DB directs to file status report in abuse of mentally challenged girls | | | ET Report Jammu, Feb 20 (JNF): In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by visually handicapped practicing Advocate Suraj Singh seeking in-depth/thorough investigation in the infamous sexual exploitation of mentally challenged girls at Rotary Inner Wheels Home at Channi Rama Jammu, a Division Bench of State High Court directed that top file status report and fixed next hearing on March 20. Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur after hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed appearing for the PIL whereas Senior Additional Advocate General Gagan Basotra appearing for the state observed that the averments made in para 4 of the status report, for various posts interviews are fixed in last week of February 2014. It has also been brought to our notice by referring to a communication dated 21.12.2013 that two teachers, one cook and one peon have already been selected. Accordingly, both the teachers have joined but one of them had left the job. The court directed to file the status report after conducting interviews and also directed Registry to list this PIL on March 20, 2014. |
