Et Report
JAMMU, Feb 20: With Maha Shivratri only a week ahead, the State government has failed to make the supply of ration available at Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department ration depots in migrant camps and non camp localities. The constant delay by the department to supply ration at CAPD depots especially at Jagti townsip ration ghats and other camps including Nagrota, Muthi, Buta nagar and Purkhoo migrant camps and other non-camp localities has led to a lot of public resentment with migrant organisations as well as various political parties making the Government a target of its attack for deliberately delaying the supply of ration at CAPD depots. The main opposition Party PDP has taken up the issue with Government forcefully and accused it of deliberately delaying the ration supply to migrants even on the holy festival. A PDP spokesman said that prior to migration arrangements were made by Government for holy festival even a fortnight before as Maha Shivratri is the main festival of Kashmiri Pandits. He said the departments were being instructed well in advance to make all essential commodities available and maintain a check on prices to avert black marketing by traders but the present Government seems to be unconcerned for the same. He said there is total scarcity of ration at Jagti township and party leaders who visited there to ascertain the problems of the members of KP community putting up their were informed by the camp inmates that non availability of ration and sugar on the holy festival has been a cause of their worry. He asked the higher ups in the Department and CAPD and Transport Minister, Ch Ramzan to look into the issue and ensure supply of ration the migrants as early as possible so that these people will not face any problem in celebrating the holy festival. Various PDP leaders who visited the Jagti township urged the Government to solve all the pending demands of the inmates there besides ensuring proper supply of ration. The leaders who visited the Township included Syed Bashir, Abdul Rehman Veeri and ex chairman Legislative Council, Mr Hanjoora. They while expressing their concern over the plight of migrants in the township said that the Government has failed to redress the problems of jagti township inmates and ensure the supply of ration and other commodities on the eve of Maha Shivratri. Meanwhile leaders of various KP organisations have also voiced their concern over Government's callousness towards the community. They included KPC chief Kundan Kashmri, Jagti Welfare Committee leader, Vir Ji Belove, Jagti United Front leader, Vinod Tickoo, and others have urged the Government to ensure the supply of ration and other commodities to migrants on the eve of Maha shivratri immediately. They said that callousness of the Government on the issue indicates that it is least concerned for the welfare of the community and its all claims in this regard have proved hollow. They said that not to speak of making arrangements and ensuring other essential commodities needed for the festival , the Government has failed to maintain the supply of ration and sugar at CAPD depots on the eve of holy festival
