| Timber Sale depot likely to be opened at Haripur | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: Proposal for opening of Timber Sale depot Haripur Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua is under examination and will be considered keeping in view precedence, feasibility, availability of infrastructure and manpower. The information was given by Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad while replying to a question by Subash Chander Gupta in Legislative Council today. The DPRs for four lanning of Pandach-Beehama sector (Phase-I, Km-1 & IInd) costing Rs. 25.32 crore comprising Rs. 12.48 crore of acquisition cost and Rs. 12.84 crore of Development cost has been framed. Work shall commence after availability of funds. The information was given by the Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani while replying to a question by Sheikh Ghulam Rasool in the Legislative Council today. Minister further informed that the road stretch km 12 (Batpura) to Km 30 (Wayil Junction) of Srinagar-Sonamarg is of intermediate width (IW) specification and is being maintained by BRO. He said the stretch is aligned through built-up area which is susceptible to traffic congestion. He said the construction of Wayil Bye pass to National Highway Double Lane (NHDL) specifications from Shailtang to Wayil has reduced the congestion problem to a large extent. Minister further said that transfer of road sector from Hazratbal Zakoora crossing to Wayil, (Km 12-13) of Srinagar Leh Highway, a proposal for transfer of said stretch from BRO to PWD is under process for which consent of Government of India is being obtained before issuing formal notification. Replying to another question by Sham Lal Bhagat, the Minister informed that the work on the execution in the first part of work i.e. Atholie to Pallali on the PMGSY road connecting to Machail Chandi Mata Mandir in Padder Tehsil of Kishtwar district has been stopped due to stay of the High Court. The construction work of the road would be completed by June 2016 subject to the vacation of stay order. Minister for Health and Medical Education Taj Mohi-ud-Din while replying to a question by Sheikh Ghulam Qadir Pardesi informed that PHC Khonmoh was established in 1993. Minister further informed that the population of Khonmoh including its adjacent areas is 26,000 souls, which as per the population norms (80,000 souls in hilly areas and 1.20 lakh souls in plain areas), does not make the PHC eligible for upgradation to the level of Sub District Hospital. |
