Jammu, Mar 5 : About 111984 criminal cases and 164474 civil cases are pending before the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and other Subordinate Courts inthe state. The information was tabled in the upper house of the legislature in reply to an un-starred question CQ number 308 of its member Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri. Further the details read that a total of 93038 cases with 5244 criminal and 87794 civil cases are pending with the High Court and with 106740 criminal cases and 76680 civil cases, a total of 183420 cases are pending before the sub-ordinate courts in the state.To another question of member about the total number of fast track courts arranged for the last four years and the progress in this respect, the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has answered that there is no fast track courts in the state except for the five existing regular courts of Additional District and Sessions which were earmarked as Fast Track Courts by the High Court to deal with the cases against women including rape cases for the district of Anantnag, Baramulla, Jammu, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Rajouri and Srinagar. However the minister has replied that a proposal has been received from the High Court regarding creation of eight Fast track Courts of the rank of District and Sessions Judge and 10 Fast track courts of the rank of civil Judge Senior (Sub Judge). To another question regarding availing High Court benches in remote places other than the capital cities in J&K in view of difficult topography at South, North & Ladakh areas in Kashmir and Chenab valley, Poonch, Rajouri and Kathua in Jammu, Government has denied giving reference of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. |
