Rajouri, Mar 5: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) state Vice President Vibodh Gupta today said that thousands of devotees from all faiths, irrespective of caste, colour and creed, visit the Shadhara Shrief shrine, which has become a symbol of communal harmony. He also demanded 25 % reservation to locals in Baba Ghulam Shah Badhshah University. While giving historical references about Shrine, Vibodh said that no single community could claim over the teaching and beliefs of Ghulam Shah as that kind of approach would be against the stature of such a big Saint. He further said that the people of Rajouri-Poonch feel blessed that the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) was established in Rajouri under the name and fame of Ghulam Shah. But some people leaving no stone unturned to malign the image of BGSBU by promoting it as an institution belonging to a particular community, Gupta added. "People from all communities are learning and serving in the University, so it should serve as an institution which strengthens the secular bond among the masses", Gupta stressed. He asked University authorities to frame a new recruitment policy in which preference should be given to Rajouri and Poonch people. "25 percent reservation in recruitment of teaching staff, at par with the reservation in admissions, be given to Rajouri-Poonch residents", Gupta said. Felling astonished over the existing recruitment policy, where staff was recruited within and outside the State, Vibodh informed that the BGSBU suffered a lot in past by adopting such practices. "Faculty from outside treat BGSBU's job as part-time and whenever a lucrative job is offered they quit, as a result of which the studies of the students suffers and it also effect the growth of the BGSBU", Gupta said. |
