| LC passes 6 bills, 73rd amendment now a step away from reality | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 5: J&K Legisltive Council today passed 6 bills earlier passed by Legislative Assembly. These included a bill moved by Minister for Finance, on behalf of the Chief Minister, to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act-2006 (LA Bill No. 2 of 2014, moved by the Minister for Forest, Environment to amend Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1978 (LA Bill No. 6 of 2014) moved by Minister for Forests. The House also passed the Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir Representation of the People Act, 1957 and State Ranbir Penal Code, 1989 (LA Bill No. 4 of 2014) and the Bill to amend Ranbir Panal Code, Samvat 1989, the Code of Criminal Procedure, Samvat 1989 and the Evidence Act, Samvat 1977 (LA Bill No. 15 of 2013) moved by the Minister for Finance on behalf of Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs besides a bill moved by Minister for Higher Education, Mohd Akbar Lone to amend Jammu and Kashmir Universities Act, 1969 (LA Bill No. 3 of 2014) . A Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir Value Added Tax Act, 2005 (LA Bill No. 11 of 2014), moved by Minister for Finance, A R Rather was also passed by the House. House considered and returned 3 bills as passed by the Legislative Assembly which included a Bill moved by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat, Ali Mohd Sagar to establish Ombudsman for Panchayats for the purpose of investigating charges of corruption or maladministration in Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state and the bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Raj Act, 1989. A Bill moved by Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din to provide for establishment of paramedical Council in the State to regulate practice by Paramedical Practitioners and institutions was also considered and returned by the House. |
