This was stated by Minister for Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora while replying to a calling attention notice of JKNPP legislator Syed Rafiq Shah in the legislative council today. He said that 2,982 kanals (nearly 373 acres) of land in Sunjwan village (in Jammu city) has been transferred to JDA. "The land is neither demarcated nor its possession has been handed over to JDA by revenue department till date," he added. Jora informed the House that the enforcement wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation undertook frequent drives against construction made in violation of rules. "Necessary action under law has been taken against the violators from time to time," he added. Minister said that no municipal land has been encroached upon in Sainik Colony and Greater Kailash (GK) areas, which fall within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). There have been allegations that entire land of JDA at Sunjwan has been encroached upon and sold by land mafia and colony set up.
