Rajouri, Mar 5: Department of Mathematics, Govt Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi celebrated International Mathematics Day and organized a seminar on the topic 'Applied Mathematics'.
Thirteen presentations were made during the seminar which witnessed the large gathering of faculty and students. The programme commenced with the recitation of few verses of the Holy Quran by Prof A R Qadri followed by the welcome address by Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina HOD Mathematics. He also delivered Keynote lecture on Applications of Mathematics. Prof Pervaiz Ahmed Shah presented annual report of the department of Mathematics. Prof Tahir Rouf Malik, Prof Ajaz Nazir, Prof Farooq Ahmed, Prof Aftab Qazi also made technical paper reading presentations on the topics Mathematics and Economics, Mathematics and Physics, Mathematics and Arabic and Life and contribution of Arya Bhata respectively during the seminar. Dr A R Qadri, Prof Junaid Jazib, Prof Manzoor Sofi, Prof Seikh Shakeel Ahmed, Sheraz Ahmed and Shazad Ahmed also spoke at the occasion.
Concluding the occasion Principal of the College Dr B B Sharma who has joined this college yesterday appreciated the efforts of the Department of Mathematics for organising the function. Prof Tassavar Hussain conducted the proceedings while vote of thanks was presented by Prof Saleem Ayaz Rather. |
