JAMMU, Mar 7: Principal Account General (PAG) XI today registered an emphatic 81 runs win over Income Tax (IT) XI to enter the final of the Twenty20 Tournament hosted by Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at MA Stadium, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, PAG XI set a target of 200 runs losing only three wickets. In reply, IT XI could not chase and bowled out for 118 runs in 16.4 overs. Sahil Bhalwal played brilliant innings of 75 runs off 49 deliveries studded with seven boundaries. Vimarsh Kaw too did a fine job adding 44-ball 58 runs including one six and six fours. Former J&K Ranji captain, Sanjay Sharma made 44 runs off mere 17 deliveries hitting three sixes and four boundaries. From IT XI, Munir clinched two wickets for 18 runs in two overs, followed by Khazan Singh, who bagged one for 38 in four overs. Batting second, IT XI could not maintain the required run rate and struggled against the calculated bowling from experienced side of first class cricketers. The whole side bundled out for 118 runs in 16.4 overs. One of the IT XI batsman retired hurt. Ashwani Gupta emerged as most successful bowler with three wickets for 16 runs in four overs while Anoop took two. Rahil Singh and Sanjay Sharma shared apiece each. |
