| Program on traffic awareness organized at Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Mar 7: District Police Kishtwar today organized a traffic awareness program at bus Stand Kishtwar, which was attended by large number of people including drivers. On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan was the guest of the honor while DIG of DKR range Ashkoor Wani was the guest of honor. Addressing the gathering, DC Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan stressed on the need of following traffic rules in letter and spirit. He said that the passengers while travelling handed over his life in the hands of driver of the vehicles and added that it is the responsibility of the concern driver to drop them safely at their respective places. He also urged the drivers to avoid drunken driving and use of mobile phone while driving. He also laid stress on checking of over loading of vehicles and advised the people to avoid travelling in overloaded vehicles. During the course of the program, public interaction program was also held in which the speakers blame the police for mess in traffic. They alleged that an over loaded vehicle manage to reach Kishtwar from Jammu only due to corruption. The said that drivers were forced to pay the police officers at several traffic/police check posts on the Jammu-Kishtwar and Jammu-Srinagar National Highways. Many public speakers also alleged that Motor Vehicle Department in luau of corruption provide Heavy Motor Vehicle license to untrained drivers who did not have any knowledge about travelling on long routes. Many people are blames poor road condition as cause of accidents, beside few people also links the overloading of vehicles to shortage of transportation facilities and stress for introducing of more and more SRTC busses on Doda and Kishtwar District routes. |
