Inter-state snatcher's gang busted, Rs 31,000 recovered

Jammu, Mar7: With the arrest of an inter-state snatcher, police claimed to have cracked an interstate gang of snatchers besides solving the case of snatching which took place outside the PNB ATM kiosk at Trikuta Nagar on Tuesday. Police also have recovered Rs 31,000 on his disclosures while manhunt is on to nab his other absconding accomplices who were involved in snatching of cash on Tuesday.
Police said that the arrested has been identified Rajeev Kumar alias Raaji son of Tulsi Dass while absconding associates have been identified as Vijay Kumar and Santosh Kumar both all residents of Muradabad Uttar Pradesh.
"The accused are professional snatchers and during questioning arrested Rajeev revealed that he along with his associates had snatched Rs 1,25000 from Mallerkote Pathankote, Rs 1 lakh from Khanna, Rs 80,000 from Macchiwala", said a police adding that the snatchers strike three places in Jammu i.e. snatched Rs 2,90000 from Bari Brahmana in two different incidents and Rs 2,50000 from Shastri Nagar. "The snatchers targeted a woman and snatched Rs 49,000 from a woman as she came out of the ATM kiosk Trikuta Nagar on March 4," police added.
"Rajeev during questioning has confessed his crime and following his disclosures Police recovered Rs 31,000", police said further adding that one motorcycle bearing regd no:BB26E-8301 and a scooter bearing regd. No: JK02M -2707 used in the commission of crime also recovered on his disclosures.'
Meanwhile police said that Trikuta Nagar police has contacted Punjab police for ascertaining their role in other snatching cases.
Police further said that a team led by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO Trikuta Nagar under the supervision of SDPO East Rafiq Manhas started investigation and on the basis of CCTV footage detained some suspects.
Meanwhile a case in this connection under FIR No.57/2014 u/s 382 of RPC already stands registered at Police Station Trikutanagar and manhunt to nab the absconding snatchers is on.
