International Women's Day widely celebrated across Jammu

Jammu, Mar 8: Various Political Social and non political besides educational institutions today hosted separate functions to mark the International Women's Day and to deliberate upon the issues of the fairer sex.
International Women's Day was celebrated at Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur Bantalab, Jammu (A Unit Of Hindu Education Society Kashmir Regd.) in which Prof G L Koul Principal of College emphasized on the need to empowerment of women in our country and laid stress on educating the women and making them literate
Prof Satish Talashi administrator and other all the faculty members and students spoke on the occasion while a colourful cultural programme was also organized.
In a similar occasion Jamola Nehru Youth Club (JYNC) Rajouri in collaboration with Ministry of Minority Affairs Govt of India today started a weeklong Leadership Development Training Programme (LDTP) for women under Nai Roshani to mark International Women Day/Week at Panchyat Ghar Nagrota Saltar.
ShabirAhmed Sarpanch Panchyat Haliq Nagrota Saltar was chief guest while Dr Abid Malik and Shakti Sharma journalist attended the occasion as guests of honor and Bani Begum Member panchyat chaired of the Programme in the programme NaseemAkther Social worker, Abid Malik, Shakti Sharma, Thakur M.Nasir Khan National awardee spoke on various issues related to women
Sacred Heart College of Education Paloura, Jammu also organized a function in college premises to commemorate Women's Day. Various activities including Rangoli Competition were organized and participants through various colours spread in message of unity in diversity.
Managing Director (MD) of the college Hari Singh Chib and Principal of the college Dr K K Tiwari highlighted the role of women and her position in present scenario of society.
Chairperson of the College Rajni Bala and Prof. Sheetal Khajuria also spoke on the occasion.

Prof. G.L Koul Principal GMCEJ in his welcome speech emphasized on the need to promote women in our country,he also highlighted the challenges faced by women in every sphere of life, and laid stress on educating the women and making them literate Prof Satish Talashi administrator (HESK) in his address laid stress on the role of women as a nation builder, spoke about the violence against women and how to curb such an evil.,all the faculty members and students of GMCEJ participated and presented colourful bonanza of cultural items including rangoli making, musical Chair, songs, chit game, garland making were the main highlight's of the day.
To celebrate International Women's Day, the R M Public School & RM College in collaboration with PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industries organized one day programme in campus.
Salma Hamid, Director, Handicraft J&K was the chief guest, while Rita Mengi, trustee of R M Charitable & Educational Trust presided over the function and Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman, PHD, Commerce & Industries J&K and Tasneem Maajid, Special Secretary PDD, were guests of honour.
Students of R.M. Public School, R.M. College of Education and Shiksha Niketan School presented colorful programme and symposium on the topic Women Empowerment too was also held. Prizes were awarded to winners of various competitions held today.
In connection with celebration of International Women's Day, District Legal Services Authority Bhaderwah in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Bhaderwah, organized an awareness camp on the topic "Rights of Women" in the Seminar Hall of SDM's office Bhaderwah.
M.K. Sharma Pr District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah delivered presidential address and appreciated the pragmatic role of officers, members of the Bar and participants in making the programme a success.
Speaking on the occasion Girja Shavan Munsiff Bhaderwah and Manju Sharma Advocate highlighted the various areas where the women are discriminated or exploited on the basis of their gender and asked the participants to raise their voice against such discrimination or exploitation.
N P Khajuria Advocate President Bar Association Bhaderwah also spoke on the occasion and made the participants aware about their various rights under different legislations.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks presented by Anoop Kumar Sharma Sub-Judge/Chairman Tehsil Legal services Committee Bhaderwah.
Alexander Memorial School Jammu also celebrated Women's Day today by conducting a Special Assembly and a Mother's Workshop in the school campus in which staff, students and parents of students participated.
Principal, Esther William and other teachers spoke on the emancipation of women and their role in the modern society. In the end a light refreshment to parents and staff was also served.
Meanwhile the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) and the DUJ Gender Council celebrated International Women Day and pledged to uphold the dignity, rights and freedom of all women and particularly those of women journalists in the print, broadcast and electronic media.
In a statement issued from New Delhi DUJ spokesperson stated that members pledged to struggle for fair wages, decent terms of employment, safe working conditions and a gender just environment at the workplace and urged to dedicate themselves to creating a media that is free, equal and just in its portrayal of the role of women in society.
International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March at Handa College Education by staff and students alike. A rally organized to generate awareness among the masses was flagged off by Director of the College,. Gurpreet Handa. The objective behind organizing the rally was to educate the masses about the ways to save the girl child.
A Special function was held to celebrate the Women's Day under the Chairmanship of S.Gurdeep Singh Sasan by Children's Welfare Society. Laxmi Dutta President Women's Wing National Conference Jammu Province presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering S.Gurdeep Singh Sasan said that Women's are the backbone of the society and expressed his serious concern over the rise in Crime against Women and cruelty being meted out to them. He said that the worst ever cruelty is in the form of female feticide. He urged the society to rise up and give befitting reply to the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
To mark International Women's Day, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with Support NGO, Jammu organized a Free Medical Checkup Camp under the Supervision of its Secretary R.C. Puri on today at NSK High School Channi Himmat, Jammu. About 65 Women/Children's were examined by Dr. Kavita Nijhon and Dr. Rohini Bhan medical Officer Red Cross Dispensary. Free Medicines were provided to the poor/needy patients.

International Women's day was celebrated by Catholic Social Service Society at Matri Bhavan, Smailpur. The programme began with a massive rally of more than 1000 women which started from Kala gate, Bari Brahmana, and it was followed by the cultural function. On the occasion Rehana Batul (Additional Commissioner, Jammu and Ankur Mahajan, (Deputy Director, Social welfare department was the guest of honor. Fr. Justin (Director, CSSS) extended a warm welcome to all the participants.
The programme started with a prayer dance by Students of Fatima Convent, Bishnah and followed by many other cultural programmes related to women issues.
