JAMMU, Mar 8: Kishtwar police who is at the centre of storm over partial investigation into August 9 and 10 Kishtwar and Padder violence resulted into the killing of three persons and wide spread loot of public and Government properties, finally wakeup after 7 months from deep slumber and today talked about peace and communal harmony during a seminar on promoting Peace, Secularism and Communal harmony organized at TRC Kishtwar under "Civic Action Program" of police.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the aim and objective of organizing the seminar was to create the spirit of secularism and communal harmony among the people of Kishtwar and to disseminate the message of Peace and Secularism among the general masses, but the peace massage from Kishtwar police looked like a cosmetic one as many anti-national elements including those involved in attack on Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo were roaming freely, despite the fact the Kishtwar police and its senior officers are well aware about the names of those attackers involved behind the attack. Even though police knows that many among the culprits of Kishtwar violence are affiliated with various political parties and was further aware that some of these anti national elements were also involved in August 12, 2008 communal violence, but no action was taken against them to show the supremacy of the law of the land. The investigation of Kishtwar police along with Special Investigation Team constituted by the Government was slammed by various intellectuals and public quarters who alleged them of partial investigation as many people booked by the police for rioting are innocent and played no role in the said rioting, while on the other hand side those involved in the rioting were not only roaming freely, but were also regular special invitees in police and administration functions sharing seats with senior police officers.
If going through the details of today's police function held under the leadership of Ashkoor Ahmed Wani DIG of DKR Range and presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan, the participants and the guests delivered an elaborate speech on peace, secularism and communal harmony, beside made an appeal in front of the participants to disseminate the message of peace in every nook and corner of the District Kishtwar. They were also requested to have a close coordination with Police and to provide specific information regarding activities of any anti-social element/trouble shooter or any criminal, so that they could be dealt sternly under law. The cosmetic peace program of Kishtwar police was concluded with the request to maintain communal harmony, peace and brotherhood in the area in every sphere of field and the stress was also laid on the people to come forward and share their demands and grievances with Police at any time.
SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal, Riaz Ahmed Zargar (Rtd.) ADDC Kishtwar, Historian D.C. Sharma, Prof. Tariq Tamkeen Dev and Manoj Parihar also delivered lectures on Peace, Secularism and Communal harmony.
It is pertinent to mention hee that Kishtwar courts has issued non-bailable warrants u/s 512 Cr.Pc against over 150 persons allegedly involved in violence related cases including that of killing of three persons, but majority of them are roaming free and are attending their businesses, visiting Government offices without being questioned. Justice Gandhi Commission appointed by the Government to probe into the violence related cases in its preliminary investigation has also found police guilty on various counts and is likely to suggest an appropriate action warranted under law in its final report need to be taken against the erring police officials found guilty of negligence in their duties.
