Over 20000 mourners turn up for cremation, Town shuts to pay homage
Kishtwar people bid tearful adieu to Jughal Bhandari

Jammu, Mar 8: Thousands of people hailing from different walks of the society today give a tearful adieu to Senior Congress leader Thakur Jughal Bhandari who died due to heart attack in Jammu today.
As soon as the news of his death reached Kishtwar, a pal of gloom descended on the town. Jughal was considered face of secularism and played an important role throughout his life in maintaining peace and communal harmony.
The shopkeepers downed their shutters and the educational institutions declared a holiday to condole the sad demise of the deceased. The deceased was cremated at historic Chowghan ground of the District in which over 20000 people from both Hindu as well as Muslim community participated. Prominent politicians and social activists pay homage to the departed soul.
The deceased was a close associate of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and had also contested last assembly elections from Kishtwar constituency on Congress ticket.
He died at Government Medical College Jammu at around 1 AM on Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest. As per the details, 52 year old Congress leader suffered heart attack at Jammu residence of his brother from where he was immediately rushed to Government Medical College Jammu by family members and close friend Ghulam Mohammed Saroori (MLA Inderwal), but he died within an hour after reaching the hospital. The deceased was associated with Congress party since last over 30 years and held many important portfolios in the party including State Secretary. He remained the District President of party during peak militancy days and during his tenure promoted party policies and peace agenda not only in Chenab valley, but also throughout the country. The deceased was known as a symbol of peace and communal harmony and played an important role in maintaining peace and communal harmony during last year's communal riots.
The deceased will be remembered among the people as a soft spoken person, beside as peacekeeper. He was also a serving Vice Chairman of Mata Sarthal Devi Trust. The deceased is survived by two sons Randeep Thakur and Aman Thakur and window.
Several political and non political personalities express grief and shock over the sad demise. Among the prominent who expressed grief and shock over the demise include MoS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammed Saroori, MLC Syed Asgar Ali, Senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma, President Public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Siddiqui, Raiz Ahmed Zarger, Anil Parihar of Panther party, President Social Reforms and Charitable Organization Sanjeev Parihar, District Youth President PDP Umar Malik, Youth Congress leader Sharik Saroori, Mushtaq Bazdar, Mohinder Singh Parihar, Satish Baghat, Noor Hussain and others.
