| Reinvestigation report, CD furnished by IA missing | | Scribe with alleged ISI links goes scot free | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 8: Missing reinvestigation report and case diaries of a case pertaining to alleged ISI links of a scribe have been giving sleepless nights to the police officials. The Intelligence agencies have accused the police department of giving undue favours to the influential scribe. Accusing police of nepotism, sources in national and local Intelligence Agencies alleged that Logical investigation was not done which gave advantage to the scribe. However, highly placed sources revealed that intelligence agencies provided a CD to then SSP Jammu Manohar Singh besides other incriminating documents which amply proved his links with ISI, but the CD is mysteriously missing. A re- investigation was also ordered by a senior police officer and entrusted the same to the DySP rank officer in SOG, but the re investigation report also went missing mysteriously. Sources revealed that acting on information provided by intelligence agencies, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of police raided the house of Farooq Ganaie in Lower Roopnagar area in Jammu city and arrested him. The incident took place in the year 2009. Arrested journalist Farooq Ganaie, head of a News Agency of Kashmir (NAK), was sent to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) following sensational revelations made by him that he had even visited Murid Ke headquarters of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in July 2007. As per the IR report with JIC, Ganaie admitted that he used to save photographs and other sensitive information in his email ID. He had supplied his ID and password to the Field Intelligence Unit (FIU), an Intelligence wing of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The FIU used to download the information with the help of Ganaie's password and then delete it from his email account. Police later sought the help of BSNL to extract Call Detailed Record (CDR) of Ganaie's mobile phone as he was reported to have received several phone calls from Pakistan including some from the FIU officials and other from the militant commanders. Western Union money transfer bank has also been approached by the police to ascertain exact amount received by Ganaie from the FIU through hawala from Spain and other countries since 2007. Official sources said Ganaie during sustained questioning admitted that he had visited Murid Ke, the Lashkar headquarters in July 2007 during his media trip to Pakistan. From Murid Ke, Ganaie was taken to Sialkot where he was shown a training camp of LeT. He also interacted with some militants of Jammu and Kashmir in the training camp. Ganaie was booked with Nowabad police station. A case against him has been registered under Enemy Act and IT Act was registered against him, but the investigation was not taken up to the mark, sources lamented. |
