Jammu, Mar 8: A combined awareness programme with regard to International Women's day and Systematic Voters education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organized at Bhaderwah today by the SDM Bhaderwah Bhupinder Kumar at Municipal Community Hall Bhaderwah. The event was marked with participation of all citizens, BLO's, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Patwaries, VLWs, Inspector Panchayats, GRS, ANM's, Numberdars, Chowkidars and head of various other institutions among others attended the programme. On the occasion awareness with regard to Voter Turnout, PER coverage, Gender gap etc was given to the participants. Stress was also laid on the role of ANM's, ASHA's, and Anganwadi workers to enhance the registration of female voters to reduce gender gap in voter enrolment. While speaking on the occasion SDM Bhaderwah, said that equitable participation of women in Electoral process is essential for building and strengthening democracy and women continue to be under-represented as voters, political leaders and elected officials and Democracy cannot truly deliver for all of its citizens if half of the population remains underrepresented in the political arena. He also stated that, these programs create an environment where women can advocate on matters of policy, run for political office, be elected, govern effectively, and participate meaningfully in every facet of civic and political life. |
