Jammu, Mar 8: Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu and Kashmir observed the International Women's Day at its Headquarter at Red Cross Bhawan Kachi Chawni, Jammu. Members of Traders federation/ civil societies, human rights activists, Branch Managers and Staff members of State Bank of India and Vijaya Bank, Kachi Chawni Branch and the staff members IRCS and Child line Jammu attended the function. The day was observed in an unconventional manner and unlike the usual seminars and symposia, participants were seated facing one another and the programme was conducted in discussion mode. Function was inaugurated by the General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society Roma Wani. While addressing the participants, Roma Wani said that women are the fundamental section of the entire human society, no human society can emerge without women and therefore any injustice with this vital section of the society should not be tolerated. In her appeal she stressed that all members of the society unite to work for the upliftment of women. The programme was facilitated by the Administrative Secretary of IRCS JK, M Ashraf Wani. In his welcome address, wani said that despite seemingly much empowerment of women statistics still suggest that women by and large are still socially and economically marginalized in our society. |
