JMC seizes polythene, imposes Rs 5000 fine on defaulters

Jammu, Mar 8 : The Municipal Veterinary Officer along with field staff on the directions of Commissioner, JMC Kiran Wattal conducted a special drive which was started from Gangyal, Kunjwani, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar Ram Pura and Satwari. While checking, 10 Kg of polythene bags was sized on spot and a fine was imposed to defaulters. During the said drive an amount of Rs. 5000/- as fine has been recovered from the defaulters and general public also made aware about harmful effect of using Polythene carry bags, because polythene never decompose like other waste material. And due to un-decomposition it will effect on our surrounding environment. JMC also appealed to Shopkeepers to obtain license from the Municipal Corporation Jammu for running their commercial establishments, and also to keep their premises neat and clean in hygienic condition.
