| Choudhary Shafiq quits NC, joins PDP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 8 : Choudhry Shafiq Ahmed today quitted ruling National Conference and joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presence of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here today. Choudhary Shafiq Ahmed, eldest brother of PDP MLA from Darhal Constituency Choudhry Zulfkar Ali, had joined National Conference on February 4 this year. One month after his joining, Choudhary Shafiq Ahmed, who retired as Deputy Registrar Cooperatives in December last year, has resigned from National Conference due to the wrong policies being propagated by the party. Speaking in the presence of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Choudhary Shafiq Ahmed repented his decision to join National Conference. "I had joined National Conference with a hope that new leadership of the party might have learnt from its previous mistakes but it was shocked to know that there is no change in the policies of the National Conference", he said and added, "present National Conference regime has been committing same mistakes which were committed by previous National Conference governments". "Within one month in the National Conference, I have realized that this party is against the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri so I decided to quit the party and join PDP to serve people of our area", he said and charged National Conference leadership with exploiting people of Poonch and Rajouri. He said that only PDP leadership has vision to address wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the state. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed welcomed Choudhary Shafiq Ahmed into the party and hoped that with his joining party would be strengthened in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. |
