JAMMU, Mar 8 : Senior journalist SP Sharma has been nominated a member of the State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The six member committee headed by the Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula has been constituted in pursuance to the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI). It includes an observer appointed by the ECI, Mr.Obaidur Rahman, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, Director, Information J&K and the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer. The committee has been constituted by the CEO, Mr.Narula. The MCMC shall perform the functions mandated by the ECI, including examining all cases of paid news and certification of advertisement. Mr.Sharma has vast experience in the field of journalism and has worked in all the Northern states of J&K, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. He is recipient of State Level Awards for excellence in Journalism from the Jammu &Kashmir and the Himachal Pradesh Governments. |
