Srinagar, Mar 31: Night temperature dropped yet again owing to clear sky while major respite continued during the day in the Kashmir valley, where rain has been predicted from April 2. While the border town of Kargil witnessed improvement by a notch, minimum temperature in Leh dropped by two degrees, a Met department spokesman said here today. He said the weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours in the Jammu and Kashmir. During the subsequent two days there would be no large change, he said, adding that from April 2onwards there could be scattered rain or thundershowers. However, the intensity of the heat was less as sun some time playing hide and seek in the valley. People continue to wear warm and woolen cloths. Leh was coldest in the region after the minimum temperature dropped again and settled at minus 3.7 degree against yesterday minus 1.5 degree. However, Kargil, a border town in Ladakh, recorded some improvement. Against yesterday's minus 3.6 degree, it was minus 2.8 degree, Met spokesman said. World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, also recorded major drop of more than 4 degree in the minimum temperature, which is being considered good as tourists visiting there will enjoy snow on slopes. Against 1.6 degree night temperature yesterday, it was minus 3 three, two notches below normal at Gulmarg, he said. A famed health resort of Pahalgam recorded minus 1.6 degree minimum temperature against yesterday's 0.2 degree. The summer capital, Srinagar, also recorded more than a degree drop in the minimum temperature. Against yesterday's 6.4 degree, it was 4.8 degree. Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 3 degrees, a notch below normal minimum temperature while Qazigund recorded 5.2 degrees and Kokernag 5.3 degrees. |
