MAHORE/GOOL, Mar 31 : Striking an emotional chord with the inhabitants of hilly areas of Reasi and Ramban districts, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is Congress candidate for Udhampur-Doda seat, said that he is aware of the hardship being faced by the people living in mountainous belts of the State. "Being a native of hilly area, I am alive of the problems being faced by you people. I assure to solve your day today problems on priority", Azad said while addressing series of public meetings enroute from Mahore, Chajru, Budhan, Harog, Sangaldan and Gool on the second day of road-show in connection with the campaign. He said that health, education and road connectivity are his focused areas and sought mandate of the people to further accelerate work on these focused areas. Launching a blistering attack on BJP and PDP for indulged into false propaganda to hoodwink the gullible masses, Azad said that it is Congress which has developed infrastructure in every nook and corner of the country. He reminded that after Independence Congress leadership, with visionary agenda, had launched a massive development campaign in the country and it was result of that campaign that infrastructure has been developed in all parts of the country. "Under construction railway project of worth Rs 20,000 crore to connect Kashmir with rest of the country is gift of Congress led UPA Government to the people of Jammu and Kashmir", he said, adding, "four lining of Jammu-Srinagar national highway project, which would cost Rs 9000 crore is also started during UPA regime". He said that opposition has launched a false propaganda against Congress but this malicious campaign is no going to give any political dividends to them. "Being a Health Minister in the Union Government, we have already launched a number of schemes to provide better health facilities to the people at the door steps", he said and mentioned that specific schemes were formulated to provide better health facilities to the people living in hilly areas like Mahore and Gool. He mentioned that government has announced special incentives for those doctors who work in the remotest areas. Highlighting achievements of UPA government, he said that Government has given new dimensions to health sector but all the development fields have witnessed a discernible change during the past 10 years. He availed this opportunity to highlight that India has been declared a polio free country and it was result of the efforts of those who worked day and night to eradicate this disease from the country. "I had to work out several new schemes besides bringing in certain changes in existing rules for further streamlining of health sector in the country which has yielded incredible outcomes", he added. Besides, it has also been ensured that these programmes reach the targeted segment. Among others who addressed the public gathering included Congress Minister for Revenue Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Former Minister and sitting MLA from Mahore, Abdul Gani Malik. |
