Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 31: Assailing the Congress-National Conference coalition leaders for not taking measures to provide political reservation to scheduled tribes in J&K, the JKDF State President and Candidate for Doda-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Anil Gupta said that it was a strange approach that despite the Gujjars, Bakerwals, Gaddi's, Sippi's and some others have been included in the list of Scheduled Tribes but they are being denied political reservation unlike other states of the country. While holding public meetings with the people of these communities in the remotest areas of Chenani, Sudhmahadev, Latti, Dhuna, Dudu Basant Garh and Kandh Top in Udhampur District , Anil Gupta said that the issue has been several times taken up in the state assembly by Chaman Lal Gupta, but the sincerity of the ruling party is questionable for not taking appropriate steps to grant their due to Gujjars, Bakerwals, Gaddi's, Sippi's and other tribes although they were included in the list of scheduled Tribes as far back as over twenty years ago. Anil Gupta ridiculed the parroting of equal treatment to all the regions of the State by the ruling leaders, and pointed out that disparities still existed in almost all the fields of life. The problem could not be tackled unless there is due distribution of political power which is enshrined in the proper and fair representation in the governance. Anil Gupta regretted that unlike other parts of the country that even the poor and down trodden are being denied their due although they from a sizeable section of the people in J&K. More than this, he pointed out that the National Conference Government in their Autonomy Report has even opposed the inclusion of these sections of the people in the list of ST. He appealed the people to vote and support him so as to provide fair representation to the community as well as equitable development of this constituency. |
