| CGPWA holds annual general body meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 28: 19th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of Central Government Pensioners' Welfare Association (CGPWA) J&K Jammu was held today at Jammu Club. Padam Shri Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai was the Chief Guest on the occasion. More than hundred CGPWA members attended the AGM; besides a large number of special invitees comprising distinguished senior citizens and social activists. JK Vaid, General Secretary of the Association conducted the proceedings and presented the Annual General Report for the year 2013-2014. He also briefed the house on the latest Govt. orders for the welfare of pensioners, including notification 2014 regarding Amendment to CCS (Pension) Rules 1972, nomination of the Association to the apex body of Standing Committee Of Voluntary Agencies (SCOVA) for the second term 2013-15 and on a new initiative by Govt. of India (DoP&PW) - SANKALP for voluntary service by the pensioners in their chosen fields, thus utilizing their skill and experience for the welfare of the civil society. CGPWA J&K, representing 28 central services, has been notified by Govt. of India as Nodal Association for central pensioners of J&K State and is one of the 30 Central Govt. Pensioners' Associations in the country to get such recognition for operating Pensioners' Portal under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). The Association felicitated Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai on conferment of well deserved Padam Award to her. The Organization also honoured two of its senior members with Jeyshth Vrishth Nagrik Award on attaining 80 years of age. |
