Farooq-Modi 'love-hate' relationship unveiled!
'BJP's PM nominee learnt from NC patron'

JAMMU, Apr 28: If recent war of words is kept aside, a little digging into past unveils Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah's flip-flop over BJP's Prime Ministerial nominee Narendra Modi.
Engaged currently in bitter war of words, Modi and Farooq have shared stage, heaped praises on each other with Farooq heaping praises on Modi's model of governance and Modi reciprocating by the same token by talking of having learnt a lot from Farooq while he was looking after J&K BJP and neighbouring Punjab. The two have never been at loggerheads the way they are now.
Farooq while addressing rallies across Srinagar district said that those who vote for Modi should be thrown into sea besides saying that Modi is threat to secularism and if India becomes communal, Kashmir will secede. Modi responded by saying that Farooq and Omar should not teach him secularism since it was Farooq's father who sowed seeds of communalism in Kashmir. He went on and advised Farooq to look into the mirror and see that they are sinners of Kashmir.
But before this recent exchange of barbs, Farooq Abdullah as minister for New and Renewable Energy on August 25, 2011 heaped praises on Narinder Modi. Speaking at a function to launch Indian Fund for Sustainable Energy (INFUSE) at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad where Modi too was present, Farooq had said that Gujarat was way ahead of other states in the country in terms of innovative steps taken by the Chief Minister of Gujarat Narinder Modi.
Farooq did not stop here and went on to say that he wanted to see a day in his life when he (would) look in Modi's eyes (and) would be able to see his Allah, and when Modi looked in his eyes, he would see his Bhagwan. "I would like to tell you that Ram is not Hindu's Ram. Ram is Vishwa Ka Ram (Ram belongs to the universe). And if he is Vishwa Ka Ram, he is Modi's Ram also and Farooq's Ram also. Allah is of all, he is my Khuda as well as Modi's Khuda," Farooq had said.
Addressing the youth, Farooq had said in the same function that as long as "the religion" existed in India, nobody would be able to defeat the country which would rise to new heights and take the world along.
On May 22, 2012; Farooq Abdullah in Rajya Sabha again applauded Gujarat government for its unique project on Narmada canal. Dr. Abdullah had said that the solar power plant atop water canal in the state has shown the nation the way and it will be replicated by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). He went on "States like Gujarat and Rajasthan have done commendable work in solar power. My ministry is eager to help states irrespective of which party was in power."
His statement had drawn loud thumping of desks from opposition benches with Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP) congratulating the minister for speaking frankly about the contribution made by states. On January 29, 2014; the same Farooq Abdullah who now feels that Modi is threat to secularism and aims at exterminating Muslims had said that he was not averse to Modi becoming Prime Minister.
And Modi responded to Farooq Abdullah on February 24, 2014 while addressing an election rally in Jagraon in Punjab by describing him as great political leader and said that he had learnt lessons from him which helped him when entrusted with political responsibility of Gujarat. He also spoke of how he had closely worked with senior leaders like Shri Parkash Singh Badal, Chaudhary Devi Lal, Chaudhary Bans Lal and even Farooq Abdullah ji, during his early days of organizational work in Punjab, and shared details of how he had learnt and imbibed the effectiveness of these leaders.
The present spat between the two leaders leaves one confused as to whether this is merely to polarise votes or they are actually on the opposite sides.
