Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 28: Farooq Abdullah's statement on BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate and his repeated warning that Kashmir can't be part of Modi's India has stirred a hornet's nest with nationalist forces unanimously condemning it.
The statement has not only been strongly condemned by State unit of BJP, but VHP and various KP organisations also. Bajrang Dal an offshoot of VHP staged a demonstration at district and tehsil headquarters in Jammu region right from Poonch to Lakhanpur demanding action against the NC leader and party candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha seat.
Taking a dig at Dr Farooq Abdullah's outbursts State VHP patron Dr Rama Kant Dubey termed the statement of Dr Abdullah highly irresponsible.
He said India was always a secular and tolerant nation and it was the result of this that Indians allowed many religions to flourish on their mother land. The credentials of secularism were dared to Indians right from the inception even prior to independence.
Ridiculing Dr Abdullah's statement that Kashmir will not be its part if India does not remain secular, he said J&K is integral part of India and nobody on the earth can challenge the same. ``Dr Abdullah can't befool Kashmiris that secularism has a greatest challenge If Modi is installed as PM saying that during the NDA rule headed by Vajpayee both Dr Abdullah and his son were part of that alliance and Omar Abdullah did not say a word against the Gujarat riots nor he resigned from Government. But they have been now in desperation after seeing such an overwhelming support to Modi all over the country, he added.
Dr Dubey while talking to reporters here today said VHP has approached the Election Commission of India seeking action under law against the NC man.
Meanwhile, hundreds of BD activists protested at district and Tehsil headquarters today in protest against the NC leaders' statement. Raising slogans against Dr Abdullah and his party BD has demanded cancellation of candidature from Srinagar LS seat. BJP Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria has also strongly condemned the statement and alleged that NC was this way trying to befool the people. ``Farooq has never sticked to his statements in past and soon after the May 17 results he will be the first man from J&K to extend support to BJP.
PK president Ashwani Chrungoo also condemned the statement and termed it highly objectionable while PK leader from Union capital Ramesh Manwati while reacting over the statement said Dr Abdullah should be severely dealt under law.
