| ABVP stages protest against hostel fee hike | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 28: Students of Jammu University under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) boycotted their classes and held protest demonstration against the hostel fee hike.
Students gathered outside the Jammu University main gate and raised slogans against the vice chancellor demanding immediate role back in hostel fees hike.
The protesting student were led by ABVP Jammu University president Ashwani Sharma. The students sat on Dharna for about two hours outside the University main gate and thereby blocked the road for about 2 hrs. Ashwani Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that about 49 days had passed but the vice chancellor has not shown any concern towards our issues.
Vice Chancellor met the protesting students and categorically refused to roll back the fee hike, this kind of statement given by the Vice Chancellor will not be tolerated by the students, said by Ashwani Sharma.
Amit Kumar (Vice President Jammu University) also addressed the media on the occasion and said that the vice chancellor has failed to run the administration so he should resign. He further said that the fees been hiked by 85% which is illogical, irrational and in violation of the Jammu University Statues. He demanded immediate roll back in fees hike. He also warned the Vice Chancellor that in case our demands are not fulfilled and the problems faced by students are not redressed properly, the students will be fixed to launch a state wide agitation and the Vice Chancellor would be fully responsible for that. |
