| DFCO Jammu conducts surprise raids | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 28: In order to ensure that the provisions of the law related to the manufacturing, sales and distribution of drugs & food articles are complied with in letter and spirit, the field functionaries of Drugs & Food Control Organization (D&FCO) located at various district Headquarters in Jammu Division conducted surprise raids of establishments dealing in such articles. A total of 456 establishments were inspected and 166 statutory drug samples were lifted mostly from rural areas. While operations of three firms were suspended, show causes notices were issued to 16 firms for various contraventions. The Designated Officer, Jammu District also closed down the operations of M/s Pushap Energic Food Products, Narwal, Jammu on the ground that said establishment was carrying out manufacturing activities in violation to laid down provisions of law besides carrying out operations under unhygienic conditions. Sub Standard Drugs worth Rs 61,194 were confiscated as a product recall measure and Custody of Habit forming drugs worth Rs 2000 was also sought. The Licensing Authorities directed the licensees to sell drugs strictly as per prescription and maintain sales records. Instructions for sales of drugs falling under Schedule H-1 which require sales records to be maintained separately were issued for strict adherence. |
