JAMMU, April 28: The MHAC Nagbani, KB Public School (KBPS) and Ashoka Higher Secondary School won their respective matches to move into the next round of the under-17 football event on the opening day of the annual inter-school (boys under-14 and under-17) district level competitions, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at GGM Science College ground, here today. In the inaugural match, MHAC Nagbani blanked MIER 4-0. Sukhdev, Gokul Kumar, Sahil Kumar and Kajal Singh were the scorers. The KBPS also won their match played against JP World School beating latter 2-0. Ajaz Ahmed and Zahir Hussain Khan netted the ball. To make it to the next round, Ashoka HSS Karan Nagar trounced GD Goenka by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Varun. In under-17 category, a record 22 teams are taking part. Meanwhile, in under-14 category, APS Nagotra, MHAC Nagbani and DPS won their respective matches. A big number of 20 teams have turned up for the competition. Detailed Results: U-14: Army Public School (APS) Nagrota bt APS Miran Sahib 2-0 (Rohit and Sandeep scored the goals); MHAC Nagbani bt JK Public Kunjwani 3-1 (Ajay and Ritik were scorers from winning team); DPS bt KC Public 5-4 via tie-breaker. HOCKEY: The SOS Gole Gujral and APS Miran Sahib won their respective matches in under-17 boys' hockey underway at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. The Results: The SOS Gole Gujral bt APS Jammu Cantonment 3-0 (Pawandeep two and Pargat one); APS Miran Sahib bt GHSS Gole Gujral 2-0 (Rupinder Singh two). Meanwhile, in under-14 category, the SOS Gole Gujral outplayed APS Miran Sahib by two goals to nil. Paramjeet scored both the goals. Amarjeet, Harvinder, Jagjeet, Karanjeet, Mandeep, Harjit Kour and Sanjit officiated the matches. HANDBALL: The St. Peters High School, BSF Paloura, Heritage School and APS Domana won their respective matches to move into the next round of under-17 category. The Results: St. Peter High School bt APS Miran Sahib 6-1; BSF Paloura bt Dogra HSS 5-0; Heritage bt Oriential Academy 3-2; APS Domana bt Rainbow Public School 4-3. Meanwhile, in under-14 handball competition, Heritage School and APS Domana emerged winners. The Results: Heritage bt Rainbow Public School 4-2; APS Domana bt APS Miran Sahib 9-0. |
