| Arrangements for counting of votes discussed in Kathua | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Apr 28: District Election Officer, Kathua Jitendra K Singh convened a meeting of officers to discuss the arrangements for counting of votes to be held on May 16 for Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency. The counting will be held at Government Degree College Kathua. Presiding over the meeting, DDC said that the counting of votes would be arranged in 17 separate halls for all the segments falling under Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, for which a total of 152 counting tables will be installed to facilitate counting. He disclosed that 152 Counting Supervisors (Gazetted Presiding Officers) and equal number of Counting Assistants (Non-Gazetted Presiding Officer) will undertake the counting of votes in the presence of concerned Assistant Returning Officer. Besides this the process of counting will be held under the scrutiny of micro observers. During the meeting SSP Kathua Mohan Lal also discussed security arrangements made for the counting day at Government Degree College Kathua. DDC said that passes for the entry of the officers and officials will be issued and it was also disclosed that entry of mobile phones is strictly prohibited inside the college campus. He said CCTV cameras have already been put in place for the complete surveillance. District Election Officer also discussed arrangements for Media Centre, Observer Room, Control Room, and provisions for clean drinking water and refreshment for the counting day. |
