| Bovine smuggling bid foiled, four held | | | | Rajouri: Police rescued eight bovine animals from the clutches of bovine smugglers in the wee hours on Monday with the arrest of four persons and seizure of vehicles on Jammu-Poonch highway. "Based on specific information, police said, " a 'naka' was laid on the highway near Kallar village after several complaints of bovine smuggling to Kashmir valley. The naka team intercepted three Tata Mobiles carrying the bovines and the occupantsof vehicles couldn't give satisfactory information about the animals and during questioning they admitted that they were ferrying animals inter district without due permission. The accused were identified as Jahangir Ahmed resident of Surankot, Javed Iqbal of Thanamandi , Saheed Iqbal and Mohd Arif both residents of Dodasanbala who were booked by the police under section 188 RPC and 3PC Act. Meanwhile vehicles bearing registration Nos JK 11-7812, JK11-1271 and JK11-3272 were also seized by the police. Pertinent to mention that few days before AK Attri, DIG police Rajouri-Poonch rang has issued the instructions to the SSPs of Rajouri and Poonch districts to act strictly against the drug traffickers, traffic rule violators and bovine smugglers. |
