JAMMU, Apr 28: Dr Ramakant Dubey, Sangrakshak of VHP, J&K State strongly condemned Dr. Farooq Abdullah for his yesterday's remarks that "If India does not remain secular, then I challenge that Kashmir will not be a part of India as Kashmiris don't accept communalism". Dr Dubey addressing a press conference at Shakti Aashram Jammu said that, India was secular from the "day one" when it attained independence and even prior to independence, credentials of India were secular. He said that in 1975, when emergency was imposed by Indira Gandhi, many excesses were committed by her and those excesses created resentment and anger in people against her. He said that "To divert the attention from that, India brought in the 42nd Constitutional Amendment and in that constitutional amendment, world secular was introduced in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. At that time Sheikh Abdullah was the Chief Minister of J&K State which was supported by 54 MLAs of the Congress Party in a house of 75, which means he had a two third (2/3) majority to carry out any constitutional amendment, but what did he do."Sheikh did not introduce the world secular in the state constitution," said Dubey. He further said that even Congress party, who was in coalition in the state at that time and was in power at centre did not ask Sheikh Abdullah to introduce secular word in the State Constitution. Dubey questioned Dr. Farooq Abdullah who became the Chief Minister of the State for the first time in 1982, then in 1983, 1987 and 1996 but even he did not introduced the word secular in the preamble of the J&K State Constitution.Lila Karan Sharma, President of VHP J&K State while addressing the press stated that J&K is an integral part of India and nobody on earth can change its status as the Maharaja Hari Singh, the then ruler of J&K State had signed instrument of Accession with the Union of India on 26th October 1947. |
