Jammu, Apr 28: Sheila Devi was a symbol of piety and purity but she had to bear severe physical discomfort before leaving for the heavenly abode. Despite being mother of a prominent journalist, Ashwani Kumar of Aaj Tak,and Dr Shiv Kumar,a senior scientist in the DRDO,and wife of a former Superintendent police, O.N. Chandra Sheila Devi had opted for a down to earth approach to life.
She has been a motivational force behind various social service missions including imparting education to the wards of poor and less privileged people.
Sheila Devi was not only a religious woman but believed in social service,especially in the uplift of women.
She was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi and remained in the ICU for about one fortnight bearing severe body discomfort silently. Unfortunately she breathed her last in the hospital in the afternoon of April 28.Since she had wished to be cremated in Jammu her body was taken by a car from Delhi to Jammu.She had a deep love for Jammu and its people.
Large number of political leaders and journalists have conveyed their condolences to Ashwani Kumar on the demise of his mother.Sheila Devi will be cremated in Jammu on Tuesday.
In a statement, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Prof Saif-ud-din Soz and Spokesperson PCC and MLC Ravinder Sharma have expressed deep shock and grief on the demise of Ashwani Kumar's mother.
They conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. |
