Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 28 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday detained four persons in connection with Sunday's Magam grenade explosion in Budgam district. On Sunday, a grenade explosion rocked Magam as the preparations were underway for the election rally of National Conference which the party president Farooq Abdullah was scheduled to address. The attack left 17 persons injured with splinters wounds, hospital officials had said. Police detained four persons in connection with the attack from two different places in the Central Kashmir district which is scheduled to vote for the Srinagar parliamentary elections on April 30. Official sources said Lateef Sheikh, Farooq Dar, Wali Muhammad Sheikh, who is a government teacher were detained and are being questioned. The three detained hail from Cherpora Beerwah in the district. The fourth one was identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather, who is a resident of Gotepora in Beerwah. It wasn't known whether the detained had any affiliation with any militant or political group. Militant outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen, while claiming responsibility of the attack, had asked people to stay away from polls. |
