| Swari villagers allege black marketing of CAPD ration, hold protest | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, May 4: Inhabitants of village Swari and its adjoining areas today held a protest against the government ration dealer alleging that he has been involved in black marketing of ration and kerosene oil and ration meant for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) people. The protesters today held protest before the shop of Mohd Aziz at Rehan on Rajouri - Budjal road and appealed to the Chief Minister to direct the concerned authorities to constitute a team of honest officials to investigate nexus between the government ration dealers and Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD) officials in Kotranka tehsil. Rashpal Singh one among the protesters and others alleged that on Saturday many of them approached the dealer for kerosene oil but he denied as it was out of stock. "At about 2 am on Sunday some residents of Rehan noticed that Mohd Aziz has been selling kerosene oil to the truck drivers and accordingly they informed the police at Kotranka," said Rashpal.He added that police reached the spot at about 8 am on Sunday but before the police find any kerosene oil in the shop during search the dealer had shifted the stock to some safer places. Ch Nazir Ahmed said that they had approached the CA&PD officials many a time in the past against the alleged black marketing of government ration and kerosene oil by the said dealer but no action has been taken by them which indicate the nexus between the officials and ration dealers. The protesters appealed to the Chief Minister to look into the distribution of Kerosene oil, BPL/ Antyodhya ration to ensure that these items reache the concerned people. Prominent among those who also spoke in the protest included Choudhary Lal Din, Ch Mohd Mustfa, Shakeel Ahmed, Rashpal Singh, Behari Lal, Din Mohammad and others. Kewal Krishan, Assistant Director CA&PD said that the matter has not been brought into his notice. However, he said that the department will initiate inquiry in the matter and the dealer if found involved in the black-marketing of government ration/kerosene oil a strict action including termination of license will be taken against him. |
