Would people have come out in such large numbers to support status quo?

Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 4: The ruling NC-Congress top leadership have been talking of two waves which they do not want to accept. They would not accept there is a Modi wave in the country and they would not accept there is a wave for the PDP in the State.
Well, they would also not accept there is an under current in favour of the BJP in the country not would they agree that there is an under current in favour of the PDP in the State.
One thing that the leaderships of both the Congress and the NC find highly difficult to deny is that there is a strong resentment against the Congress in the country and against the NC-Congress rule in the State.
If the statements being issued by the two parties during election rallies and meetings are to be analyzed one thing becomes more than clear.
Cutting the political rhetoric to which both the NC and the Congress are entitled and cannot be grudged against, in simpler layman terms the facts become more explicable.
There is a deep running resentment against the UPA rule at the centre and against the NC-Congress rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
And, where would that lead the voters to? This is a question which is best left unanswered by both the coalition partners in Jammu and Kashmir.
For the common man the admission is loud and clear. They voter is definitely looking for change. The large numbers of voters those came out to exercise franchise in Jammu and Udhampur and the numbers those came to vote in Anantnag and Srinagar seats in the Valley were definitely not voting for the status quo. Were they?
The basic lesson of analyzing any election is that when people come out in large numbers they are coming out to throw somebody out.
Another basic lesson is that when they brave life threats and threats to their families they haven't done that to help status quo to continue.
In times of changing winds, those who choose status quo would rather stay back at their home than visit the polling stations to make a statement that is unmistakably clear to even the most cynical among the pollsters.
Well, all of us will have to wait till May 16to know that the wisdom of the common man in India including Jammu and Kashmir is undeniable. People get a chance once after half a decade to teach lessons to those who take them for granted.
If the people chose to come out and vote, they must definitely have done so to teach some a lesson and give others a chance to learn from the blunders of their political rivals.
