| Principal claims acquaintance with Secretary BOSE | | `Extorting' money in the name of examination fee | | Bivek Mathur
Jammu, May 4: The whims and fancies of the Principal of a Private School in the city has put the life of the parents of a student in a quandary as they were charged for which Principal herself was responsible of. Principal of the Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School, Digiana, Shabnam Bali asked a student namely Sumandeep Kour, daughter of Jarnail Singh of Digiana to attend regular classes when the student could not appear in her ninth class examination being weak in studies and assured that she (Sumandeep) will be made regular student of tenth class like other students without entering her as regular student. Later, after about two months, intimating the parents, Principal declared that owing to her lesser interest and no improvement in studies, her form has been accepted in private/Bi-annual mode of education. Further, the student could not attend classes after her mother died in a tragic accident at her home. After a gap, when brother of the student went to the school and made a request with the school authorities for the admit card, they asked him to submit Rs 8,300 as fee. Upon objecting about the illogical charging of the school administration, the Principal asked him to send his father for the admit card. When the father of the girl requested for the same, he was again asked to submit Rs. 8,300 to which he said the girl was asked by the Principal herself to join studies without discussing any fee structure. Raising genuine issues creates problem for the father of the girl as saddened by the approach of Principal when Jarnail Singh said he will raise this issue in media, the Principal started admonishing him saying, and "I am very close to Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). So disclosing the same to media will not make any difference and if you still wish to, you could go ahead". |
