| Content with 5 scholars in 30 years, contests news report | | Prof Kesar clarifies | |

Jammu, May 4: Baffled over the revelations made by 'Early Times' in its report titled "Prof Archana Kesar guide three PhD scholars in 30 years of career", the unpopular professor tried to control-the-damage by giving explanation to the newspaper via her personal mail, wherein she listed her accomplishments and also challenged the report and facts.
An electronic mail sent by Prof Archana Kesar reads "with immense sorrow and utterly dejected tone, I wish to get knots out of the content published about me. First of all, I would have to object on the word, 'accusing'. How can you use the word for me? I would very eagerly wait for the evidences based on the solid foundation, published very much like the way you did with my accusation" Contesting the news report, Prof Kesar wrote "the news published in your newspaper is totally groundless, untruthful, and deceptive for both the readers and those who are acquainted well to me. Whatsoever has been printed is in a long run lethal to my dignity and it will be considered greatly severe."
Defying the data of the report, wherein it was mentioned that she had guided only three PhD scholars, the detail which can also be accessed on Jammu University website, Prof Kesar in her e-mail claimed that she had guided 5 PhD scholars.
According to professor in the Jammu University wishing anonymity, the two PhD scholars might have recently made submission, which Prof Kesar claims.
"Notwithstanding her long career of 30 years, Prof Kesar managed to guide only 5 PhD scholars, which is yet another joke with the research part of the academics. As far as UGC norms are concerned, a professor has to undertake eight PhD scholars at a time, but here the case is altogether different," shared Professor.
In her mail, she also overstated her accomplishments, which could have been beneficial for the professor, but had nothing to do with the University and students. "A professor, who is taking just one hour lecture that too not regularly is supposed to contribute in the research part of the university by guiding more and more PhD scholars, but Prof Kesar is working more on adding up her profile," said professor, adding that Professors in other departments having less career than Prof Kesar have been doing better by guiding 15-20 PhD scholars.
Threatening newspaper of dire consequences, the email urther reads, "This e-mail is to make you aware and let you rectify your confused state of mind concerning my accomplishments. You are expected to publish the corrigendum, otherwise it will be an unfortunate thing that I will have to pursue the legal ways to de-mask and reveal the corrupt content that is being published in my name."
The restlessness and frustration of Prof Archana Kesar coming out of the language used in her mail, makes it evident that she is confused with her position and tries to confuse others. |
