| Immediate split in Congress-NC alliance ruled out | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 4: Despite reports suggesting that after the Lok Sabha election the alliance between the Congress and the NC in Jammu and Kashmir may suffer rupture senior leaders belonging to the two parties rule out any immediate break in the alliance. Senior NC leader and minister, Ajay Sadhotra, has said that the alliance between the Congress and the NC is not of recent origin. He said that the two parties have coexisted, forged alliance from time to time and whatever may be the outcome of the poll results it will have no impact on the alliance between the Congress and the NC in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leader and General Secretary PCC, Ghulam Nabi Mir Lasjan, has said that the alliance between the NC and the Congress has stood many tests. He said for the time being there does not seem any possibility of any rupture in the ties between the Congress and the NC. However, leadcers of the t wo sides indicated that future ties would depend on the political scenario that is expected to undergo some change at the national level. But one thing is definite the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir will continue to have the strength for the formation of the Government. This confidence is based on the belief that the next Assembly poll, due in October-November 2014,may also throw up a hung Assembly warranting formation of a coalition Government. And in that case the Congress will have the upper hand in the formation of the Government. It is so because the possibility for a PDP-NC coalition Government is quite bleak and this way the Congress will have the liberty for forming the Government either in alliance with the PDP or with the NC. But for the time being there may not be any split in the alliance between the Congress and the NC. The reason being the NC leadership is quite keen to maintain its ties with the Congress lest the PDP should get any advantage. |
