| Forest officer held for smuggling, illicit timber seized | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, May 4 : Ramban Police on the basis of specific input regarding smuggling of illegal timber in Gool area of the District arrested two persons including the Forester of Bhudhan block. As per the details available with "Early Times", Ramban police laid Nakka on Gool Dhagan Top road headed by Dy. SP Abdul Majid and SHO P/S Gool during which an Ambassador car and one truck bearing registration No. JK02Q-1798 loaded with illicit timber were intercepted under the cover of darkness. During checking, it was revealed that one Mohammad Ismail son of Abdullah Naik resident of Jamian Tehsil Mahore District Reasi who is forester of Bhudhan Block was driving ambassador car and escorting the truck loaded with illicit timber which was being driven by Mohammad Yousaf son Jan Mohammad resident of Gaghra Tehsil & District Ramban. On seeking valid documents pertaining to timber, said persons failed to produce any document and tried to escape from the spot. During preliminary investigation it was found that illicit timber was being transported from the forest of Gool. A case FIR No. 16 of 2014 U/S 379 RPC, 6/39 Forest Act was lodged in the concerned Police Station. Both the accused were arrested and illicit timber was seized. |
