| BSP hails Election Commission's efforts in poll reforms | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4: Bahujan Samaj Party, Sate President Tulsi Dass Langeh and State General Secretary Rakesh Wazir in a joint statement hailed the efforts of the Election Commission of India in poll reforms and in enforcing code of conduct in real letter and spirit leaving aside few cases which increased the poll percentage in the country and Jammu region in particular. They said that leaving aside Kashmir, the efforts of Election Commissioner of India, Chief Electoral Officer J&K and its hierarchy down the line at Jammu region and especially the efforts of different Deputy Commissioners who acted as Returning officers and Asstt. Returning Officers was praiseworthy especially the providing of voter slips to the voters at home, removing of shops of political parties made in and around the area of polling station displaying their banners and posters and in some cases like Reasi District where model polling stations were made with facilities like sitting arrangements, providing water, doctors, waiting slips to the voters was worth appreciating and this is the reason that minimum poll related clashes and incidents occurred and polling increased by double in these elections. The leaders further praised the efforts of the election commissioner of India in sparing none who violated code of conduct irrespective of their position and hoped that these reforms will continue in the coming Assembly elections as well for the betterment of healthy democracy.
