| Denied chopper, injured youth succumbs | | Locals protest at Marwah, Kishtwar | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, May 4: Denied chopper facility by the administration, 30 year old Ghulam Nabi Akhoon s/o Abdul Gani Akhnoon resident of Navapachi Marwah who was injured in shooting stone incident in village Pethgam on Friday evening died today, triggering massive protest in Marwah followed by a PDP protest at Kishtwar. As per the details, 30 year old Ghulam Nabi was hit by a shooting stone on Friday as a resulting in fatal head injury. The local people Immediately shifted the youth to nearby Primary Health Center, but due to lack of medical facility the doctors advised the family members for his immediate airlifting as the area lacked road connectivity and it could take two and half days to reach Kishtwar by foot. As per the advice of the doctors, the family members brought the matter into the notice of the district administration but even after 2 days of the incident the administration failed to manage chopper for the critically injured youth who breathed his last today afternoon at Marwah sparking massive protest in the area against the government and the administration. Similarly nearly two dozen PDP activist led by senior party leader Noor Hussain Malik and Ishtiq Waza block the road outside DC Office Kishtwar for an hour and raised slogans against Divisional Commissioner Jammu and government for their failure in providing chopper for airlifting the injured patient. Later the agitating PDP activists also met DC Kishtwar and showed their anger and resentment over denial of chopper service to Marwah youth who died later. Meanwhile BJP National Youth Executive Member Sunil Sharma also slammed the Omar Abdullah government for failure in protecting the lives of poor people of Kishtwar District including that of Marwah. He said that National Conference leadership uses the people of Marwah for political gains and in return gives nothing back to the people and added that the picture represented by the area itself speaks volume about backwardness of Marwah which even lacks proper road connectivity even after 66 years of independence.
