| Monga rakes up emotion, calls Modi 'merchant of death' | | | Srinagar, May 4 : Terming BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as merchant of death, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice president and MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga today blamed Modi for inciting violence in Assam that left more than 30 Muslims dead. While addressing election rallies in Lolab and Kupwara areas of North Kashmir, he said, "If Modi sarkar (government) comes in power it will prove a mout ki sarkar (government of death). Now it is people of the state and the country who have to decide what they want. Secular Congress government or communal BJP." "Dozens of Muslims were killed in Assam because Narendra Modi made a speech there and tried to incite people against Muslims," he said. Appealing the people to strengthen the hands of secular forces in the state, Monga said, "Vote to the alliance candidate means strengthening hands of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi ji and PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz sahib. Both Rahul ji and Soz sahib have the acumen how to develop the country and the state." He urged the people to vote for the alliance candidate based on the performance of the NC-Congress collation in the last more than five years. "J&K state has witnessed a new era of development in the last five years. People should see the performance of the coalition and vote accordingly," the PCC leader said. |
